Major Works Contractors Dedicated to Full Compliance and Great Service……
Poltech Power Works was established in Martinborough in 2000 by Gray Carter and Mike Thomas. Gray and Mike had both worked at Powerco prior to that, but decided to strike out on their own. Originally the company only carried out pole assessments, but now we provide a large range of services including power line constructions and maintenance, new power connections, underground reticulation in new subdivisions, digger hire and excavations as well as pole assessments.
Mandy Robinson joined the company in 2004 as a part-time office administrator, but now is a full-time office manager and owner. Director Darryl (Radar) Rothery bought into the company after Mike Thomas retired in 2012. In the last few years our business has experienced significant growth under our new management structure, with now 12 full-time employees.
Gray, Mandy and Radar have worked to create opportunities for the company, and when we recruit new team members we look for those qualities that support our vision and further our goals.
In May 2013 the company employed its own electrician which sets us apart from many other powerline companies. No longer do our customers need to arrange for someone else to connect power to their property, we can do that for them ourselves. Being a one-stop-shop is an important point of difference for us.
After starting in a small shed at the back of a house, Poltech Power Works is now based in a custom-built depot on Jellicoe Street in Martinborough, with our large fleet of vehicles easily recognisable around the Wairarapa due to their venetian red paint job!
